Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe announced the start of work on a $1.15B irrigation project, aimed at expanding irrigation and increasing food and economic security. The Lake Diefenbaker expansion project will provide more water from the lake for farmers, allowing the irrigation of an additional 364 sq km. The Saskatchewan government will begin design work and consult with land users, with construction expected to start in 2023.
