Austrian researchers discovered potential reversal of liver fibrosis in mice by identifying four key "hub" genes.

Austrian researchers from MedUni Vienna and CeMM discovered dynamic molecular processes that could potentially reverse liver fibrosis in a study involving two different mouse models. By examining gene activity, they identified four "hub" genes linked to fibrosis, portal venous pressure, histological data, and blood markers. These genes could be developed into clinically relevant biomarkers and could lead to more effective treatments for liver fibrosis, which was further validated in patient studies.
