22-year-old Johanna Mendoza, on vacation in Mexico, developed little red dots on her wrist, initially thinking they were a result of bad food. The splotches spread to other parts of her body, and upon returning home and visiting the emergency room, Mendoza was diagnosed with acute lymphocytic leukemia (ALL) and required a blood stem cell transplant. She received a matching bone marrow donation from Catherine Vega.
