Stevedores at Belize's Port of Belize strike over $4.9m redundancy demand, causing cargo delays and ship turnbacks.

Stevedores at Belize's Port of Belize have halted work in a dispute over redundancy payments. The Christian Workers Union (CWU) has rejected the government's proposed $1.5m redundancy package and the Port of Belize's additional offer of $1.05m. The union is demanding $4.9m in compensation for lost wages and a new Collective Bargaining Agreement. The stevedores' strike has led to cargo delays and two ships being sent back to Miami without unloading.
