39-year-old Dublin man Philip Cox, accused of attempted murder, told gardaí he never intended to hurt his partner. During a trial at the Central Criminal Court, Cristal O'Brien testified that Cox had chased her with three knives, threatening to stab her "to pieces" and breaking two in the process before retrieving a third. Neighbour Alice McGrath stated that Cox told her he was going to kill his former partner and didn't care "if he did time".
