5-year, multimillion-pound investigation launched to explore why Black people have higher risk of aggressive cancers, with $25M funding from Cancer Grand Challenges.

A five-year, multimillion-pound investigation has been launched to find why Black people are more likely to develop more aggressive forms of prostate, breast and pancreatic cancers. Team SAMBAI, led by Melissa B. Davis, PhD, of Morehouse School of Medicine, and comprised of collaborators from 15 institutions globally, will receive up to $25M from Cancer Grand Challenges over five years to tackle cancer inequities by combining genomics, immune profiling, exposomics data, and social determinants of health.
