FAO report "Unjust Climate" reveals disproportionate impacts of climate change on rural women, poor people, and older populations, causing greater financial losses and income reduction.
The UN's Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) has published a report titled "Unjust Climate" revealing that climate change disproportionately impacts rural women, poor people, and older populations. These groups face greater financial losses and income reduction due to extreme weather events, with female farmers experiencing a 34% greater loss in their total incomes compared to men if average temperatures increase by 1 degree Celsius. The study, based on data from 109,000 rural households in 24 low and middle-income countries, aims to guide countries in developing tailored responses to address the diverse needs of affected groups.
