Amazon's first new data center in Auckland is delayed due to stormwater design issues. Amazon Web Services (AWS) plans to invest $7.5 billion over 15 years to build three centers in the city. The Auckland Council paused AWS's resource consent application in September 2023, and the company must comply with the Tōtara Creek Integrated Catchment Management Plan. Amazon is working with the council's Healthy Waters team and adjacent landowners to resolve the issue.
