A 4.9-magnitude earthquake struck north of Boise, Idaho, on Monday, with no reported injuries or significant damage. The quake occurred at 10:25 a.m., approximately 6.2 miles north of Smiths Ferry. Two smaller earthquakes with magnitudes of 2.7 and 2.8 followed in the same area. This is the largest earthquake in Idaho since a magnitude 6.5 quake in March 2020. The Idaho Geological Survey director, Claudio Berti, stated that aftershocks following a larger earthquake are typical and residents should not be alarmed.
