The Biden administration has waived some "Buy America" requirements for its $42bn broadband expansion program, after finding that certain necessary materials aren't produced domestically in sufficient quantities. Despite the waiver, nearly 90% of the funds for the program are expected to be spent on US-manufactured equipment. The decision follows the release of the Made in America Office's clarification on implementing the "Buy America" requirements under the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, which expanded domestic sourcing requirements for construction materials.
