British nuclear Trident submarine missile launch fails.

The UK Ministry of Defence has admitted to an "anomaly" that occurred during a nuclear missile test on January 30, involving the nuclear-powered submarine HMS Vanguard. A British nuclear missile misfired and crashed into the ocean near the submarine during the test, marking the second failed launch in succession. The Ministry of Defence (MoD) confirmed that an "anomaly occurred" during the exercise, but remained "confident that the anomaly was event specific, and therefore there are no implications for the reliability of the wider Trident missile systems and stockpile." The UK's nuclear deterrent remains "safe, secure and effective."
