A Trident missile test on HMS Vanguard off Florida's coast failed due to first-stage booster malfunction, marking the second failed launch in a row.
The UK Ministry of Defence confirmed an "anomaly occurred" during a live Trident missile test on the HMS Vanguard submarine off the coast of Florida on January 30. The missile, fitted with dummy warheads, failed to ignite due to the first-stage boosters' malfunction. This marks the second failed missile launch in a row, following a failed launch in 2016. The Ministry of Defence reaffirmed its "absolute confidence" in Britain's constant at-sea nuclear deterrent and stated that the UK's nuclear deterrent remains effective.
