A 34-year-old Colorado man died from a Gila monster bite, the first reported death in the US since 1930.

A Colorado man died after being bitten by his pet Gila monster, a venomous lizard native to the Southwestern US. The man, aged 34, owned two of these reptiles. Gila monster bites are typically not fatal to humans, but the victim may have suffered an allergic reaction to the venom. This marks the first reported death from a Gila monster bite in the US since 1930.
