Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has signed a law legalizing medical cannabis in the country to expand access to treatment for cancer and post-traumatic stress disorders, following approval by the Verkhovna Rada in two readings. The legislation, supported by the health ministry, will come into effect six months after its official publication and legalizes the use of cannabis plants for medical, industrial, scientific, and technical research purposes. Recreational use of cannabis remains banned, and the law envisions special licenses for cultivation and sale, along with 24-hour video surveillance of producers accessible to the police.
