A rare bottlenose dolphin, known as "Speckles," has been spotted in Australian waters with an extremely rare skin condition called piebaldism. Researchers from Australia's University of the Sunshine Coast identified the unusual dolphin among a pod of six in Hervey Bay, southern Queensland, in September 2022. This condition, which is believed to have less than 13% awareness among the public, is thought to be the cause of the dolphin's unique coloration.
