A dummy hand grenade found in items donated to a charity shop at Arcades shopping centre in Ashton-Under-Lyne, Tameside, sparked a major security alert. The area was cordoned off and several shops had to close for safety reasons. Greater Manchester Police confirmed it responded to reports of a grenade found at the shopping centre on Warrington Street. The bomb disposal unit assessed the "training device" and determined it did not pose a risk.
