Justice Department adds law enforcement resources to combat Washington D.C.'s violent crime surge.

The Justice Department has announced additional law enforcement resources to address the rise in violent crime and carjackings in Washington, D.C. These resources, set to target individuals and organizations driving the increase in crime, follow a 39% rise in violent crime between 2022 and 2023, with robberies increasing by 67% and homicides by 35%. To further aid law enforcement, the department will provide a data analytics tool called the Gun Violence Analytic Cell, which will help identify federal investigations related to violent crime and carjackings.
