Federal officials are sending additional resources, including a mobile unit from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), to Jackson, Mississippi to help curb gun violence in the city. This follows a $675,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) for law enforcement agencies in Jackson to improve access to the National Integrated Ballistic Information Network (NIBIN), a database of bullet casings from across the U.S.
