A fire extensively damaged the upper part of a Chatsworth duplex early Monday, prompting evacuation of residents and pets; cause under investigation.

A fire caused extensive damage to a duplex in Chatsworth early Monday morning. The Chatsworth Fire Department responded to the fire on Crawford Street around 1 a.m. Fortunately, no one was injured, and all residents and pets were able to evacuate safely. The fire mainly affected the upper part of the duplex, causing damage to the attic and roof. An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the fire, which is not currently considered suspicious.
