Concerned for the welfare of the mother, the Metropolitan Police opened an investigation after discovering an alive newborn in a shopping bag at the Greenway-High Street South intersection in East London.

A dog walker in Newham, East London, discovered a newborn baby girl alive inside a shopping bag on a street. On January 18, the infant was found at the intersection of Greenway and High Street South, wrapped in a towel. The dog walker made sure she was safe by keeping her warm until the paramedics arrived. The baby was brought to a nearby hospital and is currently under the care of medical personnel without any injuries. The baby's mother is thought to be in urgent need of medical attention, so the Metropolitan Police have opened an investigation and are concerned for her.
