More than one in 22 people in England has a disabled parking badge, surpassing the proportion before the pandemic. As of March 2023, there were 2.57 million valid blue badges, representing 4.6% of the population. The eligibility criteria for blue badges were extended in 2019, including non-visible disabilities like Parkinson's, dementia, and epilepsy.
