England's valid blue badge count for disabled parking hit 2.84 million in 2024, up 10.5% from 2023.

The number of valid blue badges in England reached a record high of 2.84 million by March 2024, marking a 10.5% rise from the previous year. This increase coincides with expanded eligibility criteria since 2019, now including non-visible disabilities such as Parkinson's, dementia, and epilepsy. Blue badges, renewed every three years, help disabled individuals park closer to their destinations and can exempt them from London’s Congestion Charge. Despite the rise, only 38% of those automatically entitled to a badge hold one, and 1,600 badges were reported stolen last year.
