Victims of 'horrendous crimes' still 'routinely treated badly', campaigners say.

A damning report has found that girls in Rochdale were "left at the mercy" of paedophile grooming gangs for years due to failings by senior police and council bosses. The 173-page review, which covers the period 2004 to 2013, highlights multiple failed investigations by Greater Manchester Police and apparent local authority indifference to the plight of hundreds of youngsters, mainly white girls from poor backgrounds, identified as potential victims of abuse in Rochdale by Asian men. Nine men were subsequently convicted, eight from Pakistani backgrounds and one of Afghan origin.
