New Jersey Democratic Sen. Bob Menendez is facing additional allegations of wrongdoing, according to a superseding indictment unsealed on January 3rd. The indictment claims that Menendez accepted bribes and gifts, including luxury wristwatches, in exchange for helping benefit Qatar as part of a corruption scheme lasting from 2021 through 2023. Menendez, who has pleaded not guilty to all previous charges, is also facing federal charges for allegedly acting as a foreign agent and accepting hundreds of thousands of dollars from New Jersey businessmen in exchange for interfering with law enforcement probes into them.
