The US senator is accused of accepting bribes and gifts in exchange for helping to benefit Qatar.
The updated indictment alleges US Senator Bob Menendez introduced a member of the Qatari royal family to a New Jersey businessman seeking investments in a real estate project. The charges occurred from 2021 through 2023 and added no new charges. Menendez, who gave up his position as chair of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee after his September arrest, has resisted calls to resign from his Senate seat.
