Maryland Health Secretary Laura Herrera Scott is stepping down at the end of February after a two-year tenure. Governor Wes Moore has nominated Meena Seshamani, a Hopkins-trained surgeon and Oxford-trained economist, as her replacement. Seshamani's confirmation by the State Senate is expected on April 8. Meanwhile, Deputy Secretary Ryan Moran will serve as acting secretary. The state is also making other high-level appointments and adjustments in commerce and human services roles.
