Nigerian lawmakers set a revenue target of N25 trillion for 2025, aiming to boost tax collections.

The Nigerian National Assembly has set a N25 trillion revenue target for the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) for 2025, following the agency's success in surpassing its 2024 target of N19.4 trillion by generating N21.6 trillion. The committee praised the performance of the FIRS, led by Executive Chairman Zacch Adedeji, and urged the agency to expand its tax collection methods by studying models from countries like South Africa and targeting more individuals and businesses from the informal sector to avoid borrowing for future budgets.
