Birmingham opens warming stations from Jan 6-9 to aid those affected by freezing temperatures.

Birmingham is opening warming stations from January 6 to 9 to help those in need during freezing temperatures. The Jimmie Hale Mission and the city are collaborating, with the mission's station at 3420 2nd Ave N open from 6 p.m. to 7 a.m. A separate shelter for women and children will operate at Pathways, and a free shuttle will be available from Linn Park for those needing transportation. Donations are being accepted to aid those using the warming stations.
