A Long Island Rail Road train struck a car in Central Islip early Saturday morning around 4:23 a.m., near Lowell Avenue and East Suffolk Avenue. The driver was arrested and taken to the hospital; three others fled the scene. A firefighter suffered minor injuries while extinguishing a fire at the crash site, which was cleared by 8:30 a.m. No injuries were reported among train passengers, and service resumed shortly after the incident. The MTA is investigating the cause.
