A Chinese court ruled that a man doesn't have to return $40,000 given by his cheating ex-girlfriend.

A Shanghai court ruled that a man can keep the 300,000 yuan (around $40,000) given to him by his ex-girlfriend after he discovered she cheated on him with his nephew. The couple dated from 2018, and in 2020, the woman provided a written apology and money to try to reconcile. When their relationship ended in 2022 due to continued infidelity, she demanded the money back, claiming it was a conditional gift. The court decided it was compensation and ruled in the man's favor.
