Irish blood service urges donations amid holiday shortages, with 45 clinics closing.

The Irish Blood Transfusion Service (IBTS) is urging people, especially younger individuals and those of African heritage, to donate blood before and after Christmas due to 45 clinics closing for the holidays. The IBTS needs over 10,000 appointments in the next three weeks to support hospitals, where 200 patients daily receive transfusions. They have imported additional stocks of O negative, B negative, and A negative blood from the UK to meet demand.
