Wildlife center warns holiday decorations can harm animals, advises safer alternatives.

Boulder County's Greenwood Wildlife Rehabilitation Center advises holiday decorators to avoid items like tinsel, dangling ornaments, and bird seed ornaments that can harm local wildlife. Recommendations include using non-toxic, biodegradable decorations, securing lights at least 6 feet off the ground, and keeping natural garlands 10 feet from windows to prevent bird strikes. Avoiding artificial plants and fake snow is also suggested to prevent wildlife entanglement and injury.
