Shanxi, China, sees surge in tourism, with visits and revenue up significantly this year.

Shanxi, a northern Chinese province rich in cultural heritage, is boosting tourism to drive economic growth. With 531 protected cultural sites, the province saw a 13.8% increase in domestic visits, totaling 318 million, and a 25.9% rise in tourism revenue to $38.1 billion in the first three quarters of this year. Shanxi is enhancing its UNESCO World Heritage Sites, including Pingyao Ancient City and the Yungang Grottoes, and is improving infrastructure and services.
