Indian authorities take legal action against Telegram channels for spreading misinformation that fueled student protests over exams.

Four Telegram channels are facing legal action in India for allegedly spreading misleading information that incited student protests against the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC). The FIR was registered under cheating laws and the IT Act. The students protested the scheduling of exams, leading the UPPSC to postpone the RO-ARO exam, revert the PCS exam to a single-day format, and form a transparency committee. The PCS Preliminary Exam-2024 is now set for December 22 in two shifts.
