68-year-old extradited from U.S. sentenced to 18 months for 1970s child assault in Northern Ireland.

A 68-year-old man from Derry, Northern Ireland, named Damien Desmond Anderson, was sentenced to 18 months in prison for indecently assaulting a child in the 1970s. Anderson, who was living in the U.S., was extradited and convicted of 12 counts of assault against a victim who was 11 years old at the time. Detective Sergeant Jayne Parkers praised the victim's bravery and emphasized that sexual abuse cases can be reported regardless of when they occurred.
