US and China expand and modernize their replenishment ship fleets to support aircraft carriers at sea.

Replenishment ships are vital for supplying US and Chinese aircraft carriers with fuel, food, and ammunition while at sea, but they are also vulnerable due to carrying explosive cargo. The US Navy operates 17 oilers, 14 dry cargo ships, and two fast combat support ships, with plans to modernize its fleet. China has also expanded its fleet of replenishment ships to support its naval operations.
