Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu reported a deficit of approximately 66,288 hospital beds in the state, which currently has 3,717 beds in public hospitals and 34,995 in private facilities. To address this shortage, the governor plans to establish at least 66 new general hospitals and utilize innovative funding to attract private investment. His goals include enhancing healthcare infrastructure, reversing brain drain, and positioning Lagos as a leading medical tourism destination in Africa.
