U.S. bans imports from two Chinese companies over forced labor allegations in Xinjiang.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has banned imports from two Chinese companies, Baowu Group Xinjiang Bayi Iron and Steel Co. Ltd and Changzhou Guanghui Food Ingredients Co. Ltd, over allegations of forced labor in Xinjiang. This marks the first targeting of a steel manufacturer and an artificial sweetener producer under U.S. law, expanding efforts to block products linked to human rights abuses in China. The move reflects a growing focus on national security and human rights in U.S.-China trade relations.
