Pennon Group reports £16m financial impact from Brixham cryptosporidium outbreak affecting 17,000 households.

Pennon Group, owner of South West Water, reported a £16 million financial impact from a cryptosporidium contamination incident in Brixham, Devon, earlier this year. The outbreak, which affected over 17,000 households and led to a "boil water" notice, caused illness in hundreds, with some hospitalized. Additionally, sewage spills increased due to high groundwater levels from heavy rainfall, although average spills during peak summer were the lowest since 2016.
