Karachi, Pakistan, has launched the first phase of its Safe City project, aimed at enhancing security with an initial budget of over Rs3 billion. Director General Asif Ijaz Sheikh announced the installation of 25 surveillance cameras on five poles, with plans for a total of 12,000 cameras across 2,400 sites. The project will employ technologies like facial recognition and automatic number plate recognition to improve public safety and traffic management.
