Sean Matthew Pitty's sentence for a hit-and-run on Australia Day in Bathurst was reduced after he expressed remorse in court. Initially sentenced to three years in prison for dangerous driving causing grievous bodily harm, he claimed to have smoked marijuana earlier that day but was not drinking. His wife and son also received reduced sentences for concealing the crime. The victim remains severely disabled due to the incident.
