Canadian government expands ban on senior Iranian officials, now prohibiting entry for those who served since 2003.

The Canadian government has expanded its ban on senior Iranian officials, now prohibiting entry for anyone who has served since June 23, 2003. This change, announced by Public Safety Minister Dominic LeBlanc, builds on a previous ban initiated in November 2022, which targeted officials from November 2019 onwards. The measure aims to hold Iran accountable for human rights violations, particularly linked to the case of Iranian-Canadian photojournalist Zahra Kazemi.
