13.5-year-old Ice Age teenagers experienced puberty similarly to modern adolescents, challenging the notion of earlier puberty today.

A study published in the Journal of Human Evolution reveals that Ice Age teenagers, aged 10 to 20, experienced puberty stages similar to modern adolescents. Most began puberty around 13.5 years, reaching adulthood between 17 and 22 years. This research challenges the notion that today's youth enter puberty earlier. Conducted by teams from the University of Victoria and University of Reading, the findings also highlight the active roles these ancient teens played in their communities.
