Climate change, urban development and modernization are causing conflicts between Fulani herders and residents in Nigeria's capital, Abuja. Traditional herders are losing grazing lands due to city expansion, leading them to roam streets in search of pasture, disrupting traffic and causing clashes with farmers. The Nigerian government has promised fenced-off reserves for cattle herders but has yet to implement them. As a result, the largely inefficient livestock industry relies heavily on imports, contributing to traffic congestion and pollution in urban areas.
