Oklahoma Attorney General confirms state legislators can attend executive sessions per Open Meetings Act.

Oklahoma Attorney General Gentner Drummond confirmed that state legislators can attend executive sessions of all state agencies, boards, and commissions, following a request by Rep. Mike Osburn, who was denied access to a State Board of Education executive session. This clarification is in line with the Oklahoma Open Meetings Act, which allows legislators with authority over an agency's actions to attend their executive sessions. Drummond stated that he will not tolerate willful violation of the law and that the formal opinion is binding upon the State Board of Education.
