60-year-old dirt track racing legend Scott Bloomquist, known for his numerous wins and distinctive appearance, died in a plane crash on his family's farm in Mooresburg, Tennessee. Bloomquist, who had long hair and a race car adorned with a skull and crossbones, was considered "arguably the greatest dirt late model racer in the sport's history" by Jerry Caldwell, president and manager of Bristol Motor Speedway in Tennessee. Fellow racer Tony Stewart described Bloomquist as "probably the smartest guy I've ever been around when it comes to dirt racing." The plane Bloomquist was piloting crashed into a barn, and the National Transportation Safety Board is currently investigating the accident along with the Federal Aviation Administration.
