Steelton-Highspire School District in Pennsylvania introduces new safety measures for the new school year, including a temporary book bag ban and increased law enforcement presence, after two students with ties to the district were killed in recent violence. Superintendent Dr. Mick Iskric Jr. emphasizes safety as the top priority and encourages parents to address concerns with the school administration. During the first week, Junior/Senior High students will not bring book bags, while both high and elementary students will alternate between in-person and remote classes. Chromebooks for grades 9-12 can be collected at a meet-the-teachers event.
