Ukraine's President proposes ratifying Rome Statute to prosecute Russian military personnel and join the ICC.

Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has submitted a bill to parliament proposing the country's ratification of the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court (ICC). This move aims to strengthen the prosecution of Russian military personnel, allow Ukraine to join the ICPo and participate in the Assembly of States Parties, and enable its citizens to access a special Trust Fund for compensation. The bill includes a clause stating that Ukraine will not recognize the court's jurisdiction over its citizens for certain crimes for seven years after ratification.
