Australia's wine exports to China increased by $343m following lifted trade restrictions in March.

Australia's wine exports to China have surged after trade restrictions were lifted in March. South Australia sent $343m worth of wine within the three months post the change. However, despite the strong Chinese demand, the industry is cautious about a return to the pre-tariff $1.2bn annual exports, with the market now focusing on premium wines. Domestic oversupply of 400ml of mainly red wine remains a significant issue, with Rabobank estimating a two-year timeframe to work through the surplus of 2.8bn bottles in storage.
