13-year-old Bethany Tricia Brown, a "funny and bubbly" teenager from Skelmersdale, East Lancashire, was found dead in her bed on March 20, 2024, after complaining of a stomach bug. Her older sister discovered her unresponsive, and toxicology reports confirmed her death resulted from the combined effects of her mother's prescription medication found beside her. While the coroner could not determine Bethany's intentions regarding the medication, there was no evidence of self-harm. The community offered support to the grieving family.
